Kecak Dance, is a dance performed by a lot of male dancers sitting in line, shaping a circle with specific melody shouting "cak" and lifting their two hands up. This dance depicts Ramayana epic when group of monkey helped Rama againts Rahwana. The dancers wear square sarong which looks like chess board surrounding their hips and naked chest. There is no music used in this dance, it only uses kincringan worn to the dancers feet who play as Ramayana figures.
Barong Dance, is a dance which a symbol of Dharma represents the goodness againts Adharma represents the evil. Barong is a forest king who considered as the goodness. This dance uses a doll seems as four-legged animal or ancient human who has magic power. Barong mask is wood taken from spooky place, such as : grave.
Thus, Barong is a sacred thing which is very honoured by Hindu BaLi.
Tari Oleg Tamulilingan is a dance describing the movements of two bees, male and female, playing, and flattering at flower garden. "Oleg" means pliant, and " Tamulilingan" means flattering at flower garden.
Art Painting
Bali's art painting started to be known from 11th century. It is revealed from a scratch which had wayang motif from Raja Anak Wungsu Kingdom era. The next grow of Bali's art painting is seen from ancient manuscripts, Lontar bible which usually tells about legend or Wayang story, depicting in graphic ilustrations. Art Carving
Statue is the main object of Bali's art carving and sculpturing. Its designs are very famous, since they are commonly inspired by ritual stuffs, usually taking
shape as God, or Barong Landung couple. Meanwhile designs which are taken from daily lives, usually taking shape as people who works as fisherman, or people who does poultry activity. The designs taken from floras usually taking shape as banana, coconut, rambutan tree, and orchid. The designs taken from faunas usually taking shape as duck, frog, rabbit, dolphin, tiger, etc. Mostly the statues made here are made of wood. However, there are also carve statue made of Paras and Padas stone. If we go to Ubud from Denpasar, we will find many various models of statue which are carved as a relief or lamp place to be used at home as an accecory.
Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue is a splendour of Bali's art carving. It is made by numbers of Bali's maestros of sculpturing. Garuda statue is 18 metres height, it represents Wisnu's transportation as a symbol of freedom and unconditional devoting. Meanwhile, Wisnu statue is 22 metres height, located at Jimbaran Hill area. It represents the power of the nature. This area often used for art culture exhibition from local to international. Party is always held here aech year to celebrate the new year moment.
